Qu-Bit Nebulae

Qu-Bit revealed the new Nebulae module at NAMM. It’s a stereo granular sampler and is now available for preorder at their website and should ship in the second week of May.

The black front plates on Qu-Bits next generation of modules are rather fabulous, although you can opt for silver if you prefer or your rack aesthetic demands it. Nebulae takes samples from a USB flash drive you can plug in the front and can be in wav, aif, ogg or flac format. Or you can record in stereo direcly into the internal buffer for up to 5 minutes – and then mess the heck out of it.

You can loop, modulate, granulate, drone and shatter bits of audio with CV or the turn of a knob. The granula engine has been upgraded and improved over the original module leading to smooth granula overlapping and a “Window” feature that controls the envelope of each grain as it passes the focus point.

They’ve not exactly gone mad on the marketing as yet so I’m looking forward to seeing the demos come out of Superbooth to get a better handle on what the Nebulae can do.

The price is $429.
